MPC™ Polymers
NOF supplies unique hydropholic polymers, PUREBRIGHT MB series that help hydrophobic drugs to be solubled in aqueous solutions. This polymer consists of copolymers, 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPCTM) and n-butyl methacrylate (BMA). Using hydrophobic BMA unit, drug is solubilized through hydrophobic bonding.
Method of use
| STEP 1 | Prepare 30mg/ml of PUREBRIGHT MB aqueous solution (concentration may be varied according to the solubility of the drug). Warm the aqueous solution to 60℃ if dissolution is not complete. | STEP 2 | Add a suitable amount of drug into PUREBRIGHT MB solution with stirring. |
| STEP 3 | Warm the solution at 60℃ for 5 minutes (the temperature and duration of warming may be varied according to the solubility and stability of the drugs). |
Toxicological Data
The PUREBRIGHT® MB-37 series shows only slight hemolytic activity in comparison with other solubilizers, such as poloxamer and polyoxyethylene castor oil. LDs of more than 25,000mg/kg (mice, orally) and more than 1,000mg/kg (rats, iv) have been obtained.
Solubilizing Ability
PUREBRIGHT MB-37 series enable hydrophobic drugs to be soluble in aqueous media.References:
